Uni Games

The 2012 Australian Uni Champs are going to be held in Adelaide, in late September. Our rowers are already starting to think about racing, and plans for fundraising are being made. It should be a great trip, to a city that many of us haven’t been to before!

In 2011, the Australian University Championships were held at SIRC in Penrith, from the 26th to the 30th of September. We sent a large crew of 18 down, and even had some supporters make the trip down to see the team compete!

After a warm and sunny start, the conditions became more and more difficult over the week, culminating in races being cancelled, times for finals being 4 minutes slower than the heats, and multiple crews sinking during races.

NUBC entered in 11 of the 16 available events, and made it through to the A Final in two of these (coming 4th in both).

On the whole, it was a fun and successful week, and everyone is keen to come back even stronger next year!

In 2010, the Australian University Championships were held in Perth, Western Australia from the 26th of September to the 1st of October. It was a big trip across the country, and everyone had a great time!

In 2009, the Australian University Championships were held from 28 September to 3 October in Canberra. Everyone had a great time, even though the rowing conditions were less than desirable. We had three crews make A finals, and five crews make B finals, including the Women’s four who came first!

In 2008 SIRC in Penrith was the venue for the AUCs. It was a very fun and successful week, with the Men’s Lightweight four winning a silver medal!
