Just a reminder that we are holding a general meeting at 10am this Saturday 17/12/11 at our shed. Please come along to share your ideas about the agenda items, and raise any other issues you would like to discuss.
Agenda:
Novice training for 2012
Selection processes
Club qualifications (towing, tinny driving licences and BRO training)
Sponsorship/fundraising for 2012
Members, please email secretary@nubc.info if you can’t make it to the meeting.
We will be holding a BBQ and oar painting session afterwards, and require everyone’s attendance to allow the job to be done as quickly as possible!
If you would like to organise a training session at the shed this week, or have any other questions about training, Merran’s contact email is PRESIDENT@NUBC.INFO
Our training times:
- Saturday morning rowing is still continuing, we meet at Ted’s at 8.30 am or 9.00 am at the shed. Come out and have a row this week!
- Mid-week morning sessions occur on multiple weekdays, please contact Merran for more info.
- Death Training has returned to 6.30 pm on Thursday nights. We meet at the Forum foyer just before 6.30 pm. Cost is $2 per person per week. Come along this week for a great core/strength workout!
We will be holding a short GM this Saturday. Again, it will be at the beginning of the session followed by rowing, so make sure you are on time (ie 8:30 am at Ted’s or 9 at the shed).
We will be announcing crews for uni games, and discussing other uni games related topics such as fundraising options, so see what ideas you can come up with over the week.
We will also choose what uniform items/designs to purchase this year, and get an update on planning for the 50th Anniversary celebrations.
Everyone is welcome to come along and find out what is happening in the club, or to raise any issues they may have. Merran will send out a complete agenda later in the week. If you cannot make it, please send your apologies to her at president@nubc.info.
Just a quick reminder that your social membership payments are due! If you wish to row socially and have not yet paid your $60 please see our Treasurer Brad (bjnhuggins@gmail.com) to rectify this incredibly awkward situation :)
Also, if you have recently paid membership, you need to make sure you fill out THIS FORM
NUBC has begun their preparation for Uni Games 2011.
They will be held this year in Sydney from the 26th through to 30th of September, in the mid-semester 2 break and we are aiming to select crews over the coming weeks to allow for adequate crew training.
To be eligible to compete at uni games you must:
- be enrolled as a student of the university in at least 1 course in Semester 2.
- be able to train a minimum of 2 sessions a week on the water as well as completing weekly ergs
The cost of the week, including registration, accommodation, meals and all other expenses is likely to come to about $400 per person. Once our Uni Games Squad is finalised we will look into fundraising options and as for previous years expect to see this cost reduced.
A panel of selectors formed by graduate/senior club members who will not be competing will finalise crew selections by the 14th of May. Selection will be based upon attendance at squad sessions and erg performance.
Please contact Merran (president@nubc.info) if you are interested in participating!
NUBC urges all eligible members to consider competing this year in Sydney, which is shaping up to be one of the best!
